Rather than continuing to tell second-hand stories, she decided to call the toast to Roger, and declared that she would absolutely love to hear the stories from those gathered, and in the meantime, she knew that Roger would want to hear some music and laughter. She paused and gathered her thoughts once more. That fateful evening, taking to the stage by herself for the first time, and delivering an earnest eulogy for her friend was utterly terrifying, yet, as she started telling the assembled crowd (quite a bit larger than she was anticipating – Almost as big as the one that had gathered for Egart) of their brief time together, and a few of the favourite stories he had told, those mentioned in the stories started cheering upon being mentioned, she started to feel more comfortable. He seemed like he would know who else to gather.

He was always so full of life, and lingering here without him would be truly dull.
Truth is, as much as I’m not looking forward to making my own journey to the afterlife soon, myself, I’m glad I won’t have to carry on long with out the little man. Became true friends, truly close friends after that. We actually hashed things out after that foolishness. She carried on like this for a time longer than she could even really recall, until one day, she heard the most wonderful music coming from one of their guests’ chambers. So, she quietly went about her rituals and wandered the hospice rooms, suppressing her emotions as strongly as she could, until she was certain that there was no way they could even remotely suspect the turmoil inside of her. She was fascinated by the sprawling city and world beyond that seemed so tantalizingly close, but terrified that if she even mentioned wanting to explore it, that the elders would board up her window and force her to perform her duties from within the tower itself.
When Lamentum was younger and still had not even dared to question the temple elders who treated her as though she were a statuette made of delicate crystal, meant to be locked away in a display cabinet and never allowed to interact directly with anyone outside the imminently deceased and most devout and dutiful of the Raven Queen’s servants all she had seen of the world outside of the Ravens’ Tower temple was just what she could glimpse from the small window in her chambers and what she could behold when she sang the dirges and elegies from her dais atop the spire.
